Hi Guys,
RDM is going slow but steady, lvl 34 now yay XD
Hmm is it just me or do RDM's get a bit shafted for equip around the mid-30's till the 40's ? I have Centurion's Scale Mail now and was looking to upgrade it soon, should i just wait till lvl 37 and get Iron Scale Mail ?
Do any of you RDM's wear cloaks or anything like that ?
One last question, if I get this job to lvl 50+, what staff should I get first ?

at 51.. get all Elemental Staves.. Then i'd just get some +MP +INT/MND gear instead of the mails.. ;)

you should just wait its not worth the gill ......you will still loose hp fast with or without it at that lvl ").........red is a back up healer and mp restorer so look for stafs to help in healing and help you gain mp for refresh ...thats my opinion...:)
Most reds i see dont melee after 40 but there are still some ..ill be one for sure :P Most reds i see get staffs to help in the hp & mp healing .....or casting interuptions...

Yup cross, that is why i suggested a Dark Staff first, here are the stats for those who dont know em :
Weapon Skill: Staff
Damage: 30 Delay: 366
Slot: Weapon
STR: 1 DEX: 1 VIT: 1 AGI: 1 INT: 1 MND: 1 CHR: 1 Vs. Light: 15
Additional Effect: Darkness Damage, MP Regeneration While Healing: 10
Jobs: ALL
Races: ALL
Level to Use: 51

Well.. Every RDM and BLM sooner or later have all Elemental Staves.. different staves for every spell... with a Fire Staff for Fire spells.. not only "Fire" deals 10-15% more DMG or 10-15% more chance of getting the spell to stick.
Well.. Dark and Light Staff are always the first Choice..

Hello Guys,
Well as an update i have my Dark Staff, Ice Staff and will be getting my Light Staff tonight.
Honestly I dont really see the need for a RDM to have the others, imho.

I have the Dark and Ice staves, but no others because i don't have the gil and they are not a necessity. It's been found that the elemental staves not only increase the power of elemental spells of that element, but they also increase the effectiveness of enfeebling magic of that element (enfeebs are based on the elements too). Something affects the chances of it sticking to the mob, and another thing affects how long and how well it affects the mob, but i can't remember which lol. I think it's been said though that the staves are better than having a club with +8 MND/INT or whatever.
It's worth reading up on the ffxionline.com forums about various gears. Apple Pie also posts there and knows a lot about most RDM things ;)

i dont have any staff... because i cant get well with money.... in real life it isent a problem but in game its like hell i am not able to save money.... i always have to spent it ...
